The New Year got off to a flying start in St. Peter’s Primary School! Festina Lente came to visit with beautiful miniature horses. The junior classes were allowed to pet them and they asked lots of questions on how to look after them. The new Board of Management met in early January and discussed all of the important issues relating to the school. Sixth class took part in the Primary Science Fair which runs in conjunction with the BT Young Scientist. They created and programmed a talking robot called OBOT. They had a great time in the RDS and really impressed all of the visitors to their stand....

We all had an amazing time at the First Lego League in Galway. It was such a wonderful experience and we were so grateful to The First Lego League, Debbie, Bernard and all of the volunteers from SAP who made it such a wonderful day. We presented our work to the judges and represented our school and Co. Wicklow with pride. Our team ‘Smash the Trash’ not only won medals but we also received a trophy for all our hard work. We are looking forward to next year already! Check out some pictures from the day:         We are so excited to be heading to Galway tomorrow morning....

Welcome to this week’s ‘Wednesday for Parents’! As you may know, one of our success stories last week was our involvement in Mathletes, well documented here. It’s an online and in-person competition that uses Khan Academy as a tool to improve the student’s maths skills and knowledge. Today’s ‘Wednesday for Parents’ is all about how you can use Khan Academy as a parent to improve your child’s Maths skills. So, what is Khan Academy? Khan Academy...

As this is the last ‘Wednesday for Parents’ before the Summer, we decided to provide a round-up of all the topics we’ve covered this year, minus the seasonal ones about midterm activities etc that mightn’t be as useful! Thanks for all your comments and suggestions this year – if there’s anything you’d like us to cover in the new school year, let us know! Ms. Byrne and third class had the most exciting start to their week this morning! A big package was delivered to the school addressed to ‘The Children in Ms. Byrne’s Third Class’. After much guessing and anticipation about what might be in the package, the boys ripped opened the box. They found the most generous, kind and thoughtful letter inside explaining what they had received. And if you know third class, you could probably guess at what the best possible thing in the world would be for them to receive… YES you’ve guessed it – LEGO!!! The package had been sent by none other than...

Welcome to our online weekly newsletter, the St Peter’s Post. This week was hectic in the school – we had Mathletes announcements, our submission for the Discover Primary Science award, Confirmation, Teachmeet East and a religious visitor. Congratulations to all of our students who made their Confirmation today – the weather was beautiful and they all behaved impeccably on the day. It was lovely to see Ms Whyte and everyone was dying to hear how the twins are getting on. Well done to Mr Staunton for all his hard work in preparing the boys for the ceremony! Our main piece of...
