On Tuesday, we had our annual student-teacher soccer match between 6th class and the staff. After weeks of anticipation and plenty of ‘friendly banter’ between both sides, we were all really looking forward to tipoff. Karl Brauner kindly agreed to referee the game (brave man!) and we were delighted that so many of our families and members of the community came to support the players (although it has to be said that the students were the more popular team!)

I would like to say a huge thank you for the tremendous show of support that we had at our end of year celebration. It was great to see so many of you there. The atmosphere in the school was fantastic and the main stars of the show sang their hearts out. It was lovely to see the boys take such pride in their work in the classrooms. Thanks also to the Parents’ Committee for providing refreshments. A great night was had by all and I know the teachers all felt so proud of their boys. Have a look at some of the many photos and short animoto video of the night (if you can’t see the slideshow...

If you can’t see the slideshow, you can find it here – Graduation 2013 Last night, the school hosted a very special event – sixth class graduation. This year, the theme was the film ‘Up’. There was a Wilderness Explorer troop display with the badges we could give the boys for their efforts during the year. There was an adventure book in the library with photos from their time in the school. Adam, Jake and Chris made a model of the school and there were plenty of balloons. Thanks to Susan from Hollyoaks Montessori who provided cake pop balloons as part of the refreshments!...

Today saw the last Singing Club of 2012-13. The children celebrated with a party and they shared great memories of the past few months. Next year, they are looking forward to once again taking part in the Hallelujah Choir in Citywest in December. Thanks to all of the boys for taking part and huge thanks to Paddy and Ms. Sexton for all their hard work in leading the club. The boys say that Ms. Sexton is the next Simon Cowell in the making!

Ms. Hyland’s class went for a well deserved day out to Shanganagh last week in the sunshine, to reward the boys for all their hard work throughout the year. It has been an emotional week, saying good bye to our much loved sixth class, we wish them all the best for the future. Ms.Hyland & Ms. Flanagan

To celebrate Mr. Curran’s contribution to St. Peter’s life, the Film Club made this movie. We decided to celebrate the great stories (true or not!) of Mr. Curran’s life. We hope you enjoy the show! Let us know what you think in the comments section!

Bike Day was a great success this year. It was our fourth annual day where we all bring in our bikes and helmets and promote safe cycling. Before we started, we tested all of our bikes for good, safe brakes and excellent tyre pressure. There were two events, a two-lap time trial of the yard and a slow cycling obstacle course. Luke Kelly (6th) was a stand-out performer in the time-trial, with a time of 1 minute, 17 seconds and Jamie Doonan (5th) was the best competitor in the obstacle course. Congratulations to all of the students for their excellent participation and many thanks to Paddy for planning...

Congratulations to Luke, Dillon and Kyle from 6th class, who recently finished their training as part of the wonderful programme in Festina Lente. Ms Sexton and Ms Sugrue were treated to a guided tour of the facilities in Festina Lente, and they were really impressed with the boys’ knowledge of caring for horses. The boys showed off an extremely neat mucked-out stable and explained the feed room. They also demonstrated how to say hello to the Shetlands.

Last Friday we said goodbye to Lily, our lovely cleaner and friend. Lily always had a moment for everyone and was a constant cheerful face in the corridor. We’ll really miss having her in our school and we hope that she enjoys more time to herself and some special time with her family. It is so well deserved. We know that we’ll always remember Lily and we look forward to seeing her in and out of school, in her new role as full-time Supernanny! We’ll miss you Lily. 🙂

Thanks for giving us your hat and your lighthouse Mr. Curran! 2nd Class will really miss Mr. Curran. We decided to interview him to remember all the important things he has taught us about his life. We hope you enjoy his answers! * 1. Where are you from? (Adam) I am from County Dublin, but I have worked in Bray for 18 years! 2. Where did you go to school? (Chris) I went to school in St. Laurence’s in Kilmacud and there were 50 boys in my class. I started 2nd Class on the 1st July, 1963. 3. What was primary school like? (Finn) It was very like St. Peter’s. All of the teachers were men though....
