If you can’t see the slideshow, you can find it here – Graduation 2013

Last night, the school hosted a very special event – sixth class graduation.

This year, the theme was the film ‘Up’. There was a Wilderness Explorer troop display with the badges we could give the boys for their efforts during the year. There was an adventure book in the library with photos from their time in the school. Adam, Jake and Chris made a model of the school and there were plenty of balloons. Thanks to Susan from Hollyoaks Montessori who provided cake pop balloons as part of the refreshments! Thanks also to the wonderful Parents Association, who provided refreshments for the whole group.

There was a great crowd at the graduation – friends, family and staff of the school. We were also delighted to see Tommy and Carl, who coach GAA in the school and Susan and Gretta from Hollyoaks Montessori. It shows how highly the boys were thought of. Thanks to Mr Hughes and Louise from the Board of Management for coming along. It was also lovely to see Mr Vance, who came back for the graduation and Greg, who created the impressive mural!

As part of the graduation ceremony, Ms Sexton spoke about each boy individually and presented them with a customised mug with their class photo on it, their certificate of graduation and their sock monkeys! Kyle Kennedy won the best homework award from Ms Hyland’s class and Cian Cleary and Junior O’Hagan won the joint award for attendance in Ms Hyland’s class.

Student of the Year for 6th class was Jake O’Brien. Although it’s always difficult to choose a Student of the Year, the award recognises Jake’s school spirit, kindness to the younger classes and involvement in school activities. Jake also had superb attendance and fully complete homework for the year. Jake was a very popular winner and many of the boys had voted for him in the student vote.

Thanks to everyone who worked with the boys this year – it was lovely to celebrate their achievements and the little moments that made the year so enjoyable. We wish them every success for the future!

And now…

To quote ‘Up’ –

‘Thanks for the adventure… now go have a new one!’
