On Tuesday, we had our annual student-teacher soccer match between 6th class and the staff.

After weeks of anticipation and plenty of ‘friendly banter’ between both sides, we were all really looking forward to tipoff. Karl Brauner kindly agreed to referee the game (brave man!) and we were delighted that so many of our families and members of the community came to support the players (although it has to be said that the students were the more popular team!)

Without getting into full analysis of the game, we can say that the teachers had a narrow but decisive victory, with the final scoreline at 4-3. Goalscorers for the students were Blaise Treacy, who scored a brace, and Pearse Cahill. Paddy and Mr Kinsella scored a goal each, and Mr Foley scored twice, shrugging off the rumours that the teachers would fall apart without a certain S. Vance! It remains to be seen if we’ll survive without the invaluable skills of Crusher Curran next year!

The students of 5th class were left even more determined than ever that next year will be their year!

Congrangulations to the teachers on winning yet another Teachers vs Students match. Sadly your luck will run out against the sixth class of 2013-14. We are going to win.
