6th Class had an absolutely brilliant day last Friday. We are so excited to tell you all about the great things we did to celebrate Roald Dahl Day. Roald Dahl is one of the best children’s writers and we love his stories. We have Roald Dahl day on September 13th as that was his birthday. We remembered our favourite people and places in his books. These are some of the things we did. 1. We had a joke competition because Ms. Brennan told us that one of Roald Dahl’s famous lines is that ‘A little nonsense now and then is cherished by the wisest men!’. This means that even if you are very old...

6th Class are really enjoying their latest book, ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl. It’s a perfect read for this time of year as we have Halloween on our doorstep! It’s also great timing as this Saturday is Roald Dahl Day. Roald Dahl Day is on September 13th every year as that was Roald’s birthday. We can’t wait to read even more into the book and we also plan on watching the movie based on the book in the run up to Halloween! This is our first podcast and we are delighted with how it came out. Aaron G presented and he did a brilliant job! It is over 5 minutes long....

From this… The 2013-2014 line-up! …to this! The 2014-2015 line-up, with over 60 new pupils, including infants and girls! Well, here we are! Back again to St. Peter’s for another exciting year, one we hope will stand up as one of the best as we welcome back so many familiar faces, and celebrate the arrival of so many new students! After a year of great change and excitement, we opened our doors to over 90 new pupils today, moving from being a senior boys school (with a mixed 2nd Class), to a fully tiered, mixed school. We’re delighted to have Junior, Senior and First Class...

Yesterday, 5th and 6th class visited Bray Garda station as part of our Community Garda, Stephen’s, work with the school. He visited 5th class a couple of weeks ago so we were really interested to see everything that we’d learned about. You can read our previous post here. We had a really interesting morning in Bray Garda station and we got to see the squad cars, the cells, the medical room, the interview room and the control room where all the emergency calls for County Wicklow come into. We also got to see the CCTV footage from the cameras around Bray. Stephen was really generous...

Last Saturday, St. Peter’s had the huge honour of showcasing their technology and ICT use in Dublin Castle at the Excited Digital Learning Conference. We were invited to participate having completed the Digital Schools of Distinction adjudication. It has been an incredible year for St. Peter’s, and we have worked to improve and enhance our use of ICT at every level in the school. This has led to great success at a national level, and we have been successful in the national Eircom Junior Spiders awards, the national Mathletes finals and we have also won a Creative Schools award for use...

2nd Class have been learning about Irish myths and legends. We decided to record podcasts and make videos to help us to remember the sequence of the stories. As always we used Soundcloud for the podcast and Vintagio for the video! This is the first post from us on this topic. We will have two more soon! They will be about other Irish myths and legends. We hope you like our video and podcast about The Brown Bull of Cooley! The Brown Bull of Cooley! from St Peter’s, Bray on Vimeo.

Ms. Byrne and third class had the most exciting start to their week this morning! A big package was delivered to the school addressed to ‘The Children in Ms. Byrne’s Third Class’. After much guessing and anticipation about what might be in the package, the boys ripped opened the box. They found the most generous, kind and thoughtful letter inside explaining what they had received. And if you know third class, you could probably guess at what the best possible thing in the world would be for them to receive… YES you’ve guessed it – LEGO!!! The package had been sent by none other than...

2nd Class have been learning about Irish Myths and Legends. We know lots about different stories from many, many years ago. We loved reading and retelling the stories. We decided to podcast about three of them and we also decided to make storyboards to put different parts of the story in order. We hope you like our videos and podcasts!

Last week, Stephen, the Community Garda, came in to visit us to talk to us about the work of the Gardaí. We’d loads of questions for him and we learned a lot from him. We recorded a podcast about what we learned from him. Earlier in the week, we noticed on the @gardainfo Twitter account that they were having a Q&A session with a member of the Garda Dog Unit. We posted questions, as did our friends in Cloghan’s Hill School. We storified the answers to make them easier to read. Twitter is a cool way to access information on topics that we’re interested in – we’d...
