Hi everyone! 5th Class here, and we’re going to tell you all about how we celebrated Engineers Week 2017. Firstly, we explored the work of engineers. We had a special project to complete on the interactive board in school! We also looked at this wordle challenge completed by some of our brothers and sisters a couple of years ago. We’ve started #engweek17! We built a word wall, looked at the work of engineers and we prepared for our afternoon challenge! #5thClass pic.twitter.com/8kgipCJ35I — St. Peter’s Primary (@StPetersBray) March 6, 2017 For Engineers Week this year we: Completed...

Our task for Monday was to design and create a marble maze using a variety of materials.  Here are some of our creations. ‘Feed me’……..created by Liam The aim is to get the Malteaser into it’s mouth. Not as easy as it sounds. Summer has cleverly added in a riddle for the player to solve before progressing through her puzzle. The route is clearly mapped out for the user to save any confusion. Karl has used the idea of a football pitch. He has some very tricky holes in the pitch for the player to navigate with the marble.  Here he is encountering a problem with his...

Bhí Tráth na gCeist ag Rang a Trí, Rang a Ceathair, Rang a Cúig agus Rang a Sé, le déanaí. Bhí go leor ceisteanna bunaithe ar scannáin, cláir teilifíse agus ceol. Bhuaigh Abbie, Maddy, Alana M agus Ryan agus fuair siad uibheacha Cásca. Bhuaigh Leanne, Calvin, Brooke agus Brigid duais mar bhí a lán spiorad foirne acu. D’eagraigh Ms Farren an Tráth na gCeist agus bhaineamar an-taitneamh as. Go raibh maith agat, Ms Farren!

Well done to the Student Council who encouraged everybody to do so many lovely random acts of kindness for our RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) Week. They travelled around to the various classes to find out some of the lovely things that went on! In Junior Infants, Jake helped his brother when he fell. Jasmine helped somebody who fell on yard too! Joey helped to clean up his kitchen with his Mum. Ruby watched TV with her Dad to keep him company. In 3rd Lana held the class the door open for people and she also opened the gate for Les. Barry was nice to a new student and Tristan made his bed without...

One of our favourite hobbies in third class is going to the cinema. For Tech Week 2015, we thought it would be cool to see some of the cool technology behind the scenes in the cinema. We got some help from the owner at the cinema who sent us these cool photos – have a look! This is projection suite in the cinema! We thought this was a great Tech Week 2015 photo – a film hard drive – we didn’t expect the film to look like this! WOW! Look at how big the sound box is at the cinema! We hope you’ve enjoyed looking at these behind the scenes pics as much as week have!

Third class had a visit from Joe, a Civil Engineer from Dublin City Council for Engineer Week 2015. Joe came to our class one Friday morning and told us all about the different types of engineering – Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil. We looked at water treatment plants, robots, airplanes, bridges and much more! One of the things we really loved were the pictures of the wind farms. Joe told us lots of fun facts about Engineering. Did you know that when Engineers are designing bridges, they leave a little tunnel with bait for badgers to pass through so that they don’t have to cross...

This year, for Engineer’s Week, we had a very exciting event as we had our first ever Junior K’NEX Challenge. As you know, our senior version is well-established – you can read all about this year’s event here and last year’s version is here. Senior Infants and 2nd class were the perfect combination to work together on the K’NEX Challenge. With four sets of siblings and lots of cousins, we made the teams into family affairs and we think you’ll be very impressed by their fantastic work. The challenge was to design and make a bridge. The criteria was that...
