After many months of learning about stop-motion animations, apps, lighting, sound, props and recording… here it is. Our complete Creative Schools Awards project in one massive blogpost! So… here it is! Our project has taken us four months to complete. We decided to use our love of ICT and Art in as creative and interesting a way as possible in putting together a stop-motion animation project. We got the idea as early in the year, during Culture Night 2013, our local theatre (The Mermaid) ran a number of events on the night, including children’s animation workshops. We in St. Peter’s...

2nd Class had great fun learning about Pop Art apps for #artweek14 today. They used an app on their iPad to create their own Andy Warhol pictures. Have a look! Check out our wall on the #artweek14 page here! Can you guess who this is?!

In Ms. Mitchell’s class we were so excited to find out what was going to happen next in The Twit’s so we read THREE chapters of the book today! We all took turns reading and listening carefully to the story. Mr. Twit was trying to help Mrs. Twit grow taller by stretching her. He tied her ankles to a ring in the ground and then he tied her neck and wrists to 60 gas filled balloons.  Mr. Twit planned to leave her there for a few days but then he had a different idea. He cut the  strings on her ankles and Mrs. Twit went up into the sky like a rocket! Mrs. Twit was very clever and she...

This week is so busy. We’re getting involved in #TechWeekIrl and we’re off to the Junior Spider awards ceremony on Tuesday! We’re also taking part in Digital Art Week (#artweek14), and we can’t wait to combine two of our favourite things – Art and ICT! There is so much potential here to use technology to create wonderful pieces of art. We haven’t taken part before, but our online twitter and blogging friends have made this an unmissable event. We’ll be combining our #TechWeekIrl events with all Art activities and we’ll be tweeting and blogging all...

Welcome to our weekly online newsletter – the St Peter’s Post! We’d a really exciting week with the arrival of Scientific Sue. We were delighted to welcome five local schools to see Sue in action and they were all really impressed by Sue and by our beautiful school! It was lovely to be able to share our prize with them and we’re very grateful to Engineers Ireland for organising it. Here are the week’s headlines: You can read all about Scientific Sue’s visit here! We’re now on our Easter holidays – 3rd class had great fun yesterday at their Easter...

3rd Class had a very ‘egg-citing’ day on Friday. They took part in an Easter egg hunt around our school. The children worked in teams of three and four. They completed five different challenges over the day which led them to clues as to where the Easter eggs were hidden. Adam Hackman was the star of the show with his quick skills completing the egg co-ordinates grid and working out that the second set of eggs were in the library. The boys found eggs in the grass at the front of the school, in the library and in the back yard. Once they had completed all of the challenges they made their way...

Well done to Paddy and Mr Kinsella who took part in the LauraLynn Kettlebell Challenge at Shoreline Leisure, Bray last Saturday. LauraLynn is Ireland’s only children’s hospice which works with children with life-limiting conditions. It also provides residential care for young adults with disabilities. The lads managed to lift 2,000 kettle bells between them in the hour and raised much needed funds for the charity.  Many thanks to Ms. Whyte, Mr. Foley and of course Ari who came along to support them. Well done!
