Senior Infants have been busy exploring and investigating different materials. We have looked at metal, wood, plastic, fabric, cardboard and rubber and have learned that they all look and feel very different. We decided that it would be fun to explore which of these materials are waterproof. Ned, Seán and Damiano investigated wood and metal that they found on an abacus in our classroom. They said that the metal felt cold and hard and that the wood felt smooth and strong. David and Ellie investigated fabric and said that it felt soft and fluffy! First we decided to talk about what the word ‘waterproof’...

It has been very busy in Senior Infants over the past couple of weeks! We really enjoyed celebrating Grandparent’s Day, planting with Junior Infants and Second Class and learning how to follow directions during P.E. We have been presenting our work to the class in pairs and co – operating to finish some new jigsaws! We are having lots of fun working in pairs and groups during our lessons and hope you like our photos! Oisín, Ned and Marie worked really well together as a team. Thanks to everyone who made our open morning for Grandparents’ Day so special. It was lovely to have you visit our school. We had grandparents, neighbours, friends of the Parish and our Mams and Dads in to see our rooms, work and performance. We performed a couple of classics from previous shows and had a lovely time. Thanks to our Parents’ Association for their hard work and time spent serving tea, coffee and other lovely treats! We can’t wait for Grandparents’ Day 2016!

On such a beautiful day, can you think of anything nicer to do than spend part of the morning gardening? Prepare to be very envious of our Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 2nd class students who started their Incredible Edibles project 2015 by planting a great selection of vegetables, fruit and potatoes. 2nd class had studied what to do in advance and prepared their vocabulary and each pairing from 2nd class worked with a small group from the infant classes to share their skills. We used words like ‘compost’, ‘seeds’, ‘roots’ and ‘plant’ and we...

We are taking part in Irish dancing lessons in Senior Infants at the moment and we’re having so much fun! It’s perfect timing as we can use what we have learned to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Sue is our teacher and has taught us some excellent moves! We really enjoy learning new dances like the Walls of Limerick and love playing musical statues to practice what we have been learning. Thanks Sue for making our lessons so much fun! Check out some of our photos here!

This year, for Engineer’s Week, we had a very exciting event as we had our first ever Junior K’NEX Challenge. As you know, our senior version is well-established – you can read all about this year’s event here and last year’s version is here. Senior Infants and 2nd class were the perfect combination to work together on the K’NEX Challenge. With four sets of siblings and lots of cousins, we made the teams into family affairs and we think you’ll be very impressed by their fantastic work. The challenge was to design and make a bridge. The criteria was that...

Junior and Senior Infants have been learning about the post office during Aistear. We have been learning what our address is, we have been learning that we put our address on letters and parcels that you send off in the post. We have been learning what stamps are too.   We had a very exciting visit from Trevor the postman last week. We asked him loads of questions like “where do you get the letters?” Trevor told us that another postman collects the letters and sends them to Dublin. The people in Dublin send them back to Bray and Trevor delivers them! We asked them what happens...

The junior and senior infants are very excited as we are getting a pom pom dancing club at lunchtime once a week! Shake the pom poms down!   The four amazing sixth class girls are going to be our teachers! We listened really well! Bring the pom poms back up! The sixth class girls have been doing pom pom dancing outside of school and can’t wait to show us what they know! They are so kind and patient with us and we are lucky to have them! So much fun! Check out some of our Vines from our class! We will have one more go of our pom pom dancing class and then we will be getting our pom...

We have been learning a lot about the Gardai and the important job that they do. looking good! We learned that if we get lost when we are out we can go to a Garda and ask him or her to help us find our Mum or Dad. During the week Garda Tom and Garda Adam came in to visit us. We were able to ask them lots of questions. We were very good and put our hands up! Garda Tom and Garda Adam were really nice and told us all about the important job that they do. We knew something...
