Junior and Senior Infants have been learning about the post office during Aistear. We have been learning what our address is, we have been learning that we put our address on letters and parcels that you send off in the post. We have been learning what stamps are too.

We had a very exciting visit from Trevor the postman last week. We asked him loads of questions like “where do you get the letters?” Trevor told us that another postman collects the letters and sends them to Dublin. The people in Dublin send them back to Bray and Trevor delivers them!

We asked them what happens if you forget to put stamps on your letter and Trevor said that you must put your own address on the back of your letter. Then the people in Dublin send it back to your house so you can put stamps on!

Chloe told us her dad is a postman too and she even gets to go on the back of his bike!

Thanks a million to Trevor for coming in and sharing all his knowledge with us!

Lana says that it’s really nice that you’re learning about the post. Ava wants to know if you learned anything that you didn’t know before. Arpit says thank you for sharing the visit with us on the blog. Some of the boys and girls in our class have Trevor as their postman. They said that he’s always smiling!

Thanks to Trevor for coming in to talk to us – we had a great time! We learned that the post gets sent to Dublin to get sorted out before it is delivered to us by our postman. Thanks for all your lovely comments 2nd class!

We learnt that we buy the stamps and stick them on the envelopes. We also learned that after we put the letters in the postbox they go to Dublin.
