Smiles all around for their first day in Senior Infants last month.

We started learning about Autumn in September, we all put on our hi-visabilty jackets and off we went for a walk around the green. The children saw the changing colours of the trees, we found conkers, acorns and many more items. The children are really enjoying learning about Autumn, we are are learning about hedgehogs, hibernation and bears this week.

For the whole month of September the girls and boys in Senior Infants were all working hard cooking and baking in our restaurant. In our role play area the children got the chance to become waiters, chefs waitresses and customers. Here are a few pictures of the students enjoying our restaurant. In our construction area the children built restaurants. In our fine motor skills area the children make cakes for our restaurant using straws. In our art section we created Gingerbread men and we read books about food in the library.

In Senior Infants, we’re very proud of our two Green Schools reps – Aaron and Joey! Lately, we’ve been learning all about litter and the importance of keeping our environment clean. We went on a walk to see if we could find litter in our local area and members of our class have been helping Ms Ward and the Green Schools team to do litter picking. We also designed posters to encourage our school community not to litter. Here are some photos of our activities! Here are our posters!

Junior Infants are coming towards the end of their first year in St. Peter’s, and what a year it has been! Last week, we had a chat about our favourite memories of our first year in school, with some recounting their first day in school to others chatting with excitement about Sports Day, the day we each made rockets for Space Week, our time spent in our Aistear areas and so many more special moments besides. Garylee exclaimed “I want to stay in this school forever” … he will have to be reminded of that at the Sixth Class Graduation in years to come! You can see the work completed by each...

This week, in Junior Infants, we met a whale named Sally, who lives in the sea beside a lovely village called Sandy Shores. We asked Sally lots of questions about Sandy Shores and made predictions about what she might like to play, eat and do for fun! She was very upset the second time she came to visit us, however, because Sandy Shores had developed a terrible litter problem. Her home was getting polluted with lots of rubbish and this made her feel very sad. Luckily, Junior Infants are experts at dealing with rubbish and looking after the environment. The Lord Mayor of Sandy Shores heard that...

STEM for Fun with the junior classes started a couple of weeks ago. Here Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class are brought to the hall each week to work with teachers and parents to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths games and challenges. Check out some of our pictures below (where the adults seem to be having just as much fun as the children!)

Hi everyone! 5th Class here, and we’re going to tell you all about how we celebrated Engineers Week 2017. Firstly, we explored the work of engineers. We had a special project to complete on the interactive board in school! We also looked at this wordle challenge completed by some of our brothers and sisters a couple of years ago. We’ve started #engweek17! We built a word wall, looked at the work of engineers and we prepared for our afternoon challenge! #5thClass pic.twitter.com/8kgipCJ35I — St. Peter’s Primary (@StPetersBray) March 6, 2017 For Engineers Week this year we: Completed...

In Junior Infants, we have been getting used to the idea of doing an hour of play each morning for Aistear. Our first theme was ‘Space’ as last week was space week. In this collage, Garylee and Fia did wonderful teamwork in which Garylee made a spaceship and Fia made an alien. Oisin and Reece were also enjoying their playtime in the malleable area and both boys created wonderful aliens. In the role play area, some of the boys and girls look very scary indeed! Below, in the construction area, Leon and Kaiden were working together to construct spaceships and rockets. They did a super...

Junior Infants were the first class to win the attendance award in St. Peter’s this year. They had the best attendance school wide, for the month of September! Well done Junior Infants! As their prize, Junior Infants attended the St. Peter’s cinema. It was SO much fun! To start, each Junior Infant was given a ticket that they needed to look after very carefully. They lined up at the cinema entrance, gave their ticket to the cinema officials and each got to collect their popcorn, sweets and drink from the cinema shop. After a security announcement, the movie was ready to begin. The...
