  Welcome to our submission for the Discover Primary Science and Maths award for 2015. This is our 10th year taking part in the Awards! This year we are applying for the Plaque of STEM Excellence, a new award which is given to schools that carry out extensive work in science, technology, engineering and maths, all of which are very important in St. Peter’s. The other big change this year is that it is the first time we will have had Junior and Senior Infants taking part in the award! During Engineer’s Week 2015, third class had a visit from Joe, a Civil Engineer from Dublin City Council. Joe showed us pictures of a water treatment plant. We thought this was really interesting, so, for Discovering Science 2015, we decided to filter some dirty, grassy water of our own! We filtered water in two ways! Have a look at Kelsey, Dominick, Caoilynn and Dylan watering how well Caoilynn can filter the water using her hand – her face tells a story of its own! Last Friday week (9/1/15) 6th Class took their RDS Primary Science Fair project to the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition. We had an amazing day, and tweeted throughout! We got brilliant news last week. 6th Class found out that they have been accepted to participate in the RDS Primary Science Fair in January of next year! 6th Class are absolutely thrilled to say that we’ve been accepted into the RDS Primary Science Fair at the @BTYSTE! Hi! We’re in Mr. Kinsella’s 5th Class. Our Class photo! For many of our past pupils and brothers and sisters of our current pupils, tomorrow is a big day. We want to wish everyone waiting on Leaving Cert results the very best of luck. The wait for results is often a stressful one (for student and family!), but there are a number of resources around the web to help make the process easier. SpunOut.ie is, as always, a fantastic resource, with lots of helpful tips on dealing with the stress of results day. Their article here contains lots of advice. The website is well worth a browse with lots of advice on finding accommodation for 3rd level education...

Welcome to our weekly online newsletter, the St Peter’s Post! This week was a short one as we were off for Monday and Tuesday, but we packed plenty into our three days. We had a visitor from Tasmania, Wicklow Sports and Bike Week, along with posts about our own Sports Day and our participation in the Excited Festival.
