St. Peter’s Primary celebrated the First Holy Communion of our 2nd Class pupils on May 25th last. It was a lovely day and the sun shone for our 16 pupils and their families. It was the first time we celebrated First Holy Communion with girls in our school and it made the occasion all the more special! Many thanks to the older pupils in the school who sung in the choir on the day, and congratulations again to our 2nd Class pupils! As always, we are very grateful for the support of Fr. James and Sr. Patricia and the local choir who helped the school to prepare for the day. Thanks also to Shell...

2nd Class have been learning about Irish Myths and Legends. We know lots about different stories from many, many years ago. We loved reading and retelling the stories. We decided to podcast about three of them and we also decided to make storyboards to put different parts of the story in order. We hope you like our videos and podcasts!

Do you like our sheep that we made for the altar in the church? This Tuesday on the 20th of May, 2nd Class will make their First Confession in our local church, St. Peter’s. Everyone is very excited. We have been working on our prayers, practicing our songs and learning the lines of our story called The Lost Sheep. We will be singing three songs on Tuesday. They are called Connected, The Lost Sheep and My Shepherd is the Lord. We will also be saying prayers on the altar. We know our Lost Sheep story off by heart. Would you like to hear it? We would like to thank Sr. Patricia and Fr. James...

Hello bloggers around the world! Today we did a podcast of our Irish story called Mamó. Everyone in the class called out the first and the last box from the story. We used our random name picker to give out the boxes from the story. Each boy in the class got to call out a box on their own. Before we started recording Mr. Foley let us practice a little bit. Everyone did really well. Jack B got the tongue twister! Try it for yourself; shuigh siad síos sa seomra suí! Mr. Foley deleted the first part of the story by mistake (again!) but we were able to do it again, and our second time was even better....

Some of the art the boys prepared for the church last year. 2nd Class are very busy preparing for celebration of their First Confession and First Holy Communion. There are many prayers for us to learn. We have made two full sheets with lots of prayers and we have sent them home to practice every night. If you are practicing the prayers, it might help to play these podcasts where we are reminded what to say. We can practice the prayers beside the sound. These are the prayers from page one as sent home!

The weather over the Easter holidays reminded us all that Summer is on the way and this week’s Wednesday for Parents focuses on getting healthy as we all finally come out of hibernation and crawl out from under the duvet! We were delighted to see our students arrive back after the holidays looking fresh and healthy after all the playing outdoors. One of our priorities in St Peter’s is to encourage healthy living amongst our students  – mainly thanks to Paddy! Along with our PE sessions, we’re lucky to welcome Tommy, our GAA coach, in on Fridays. We also have weekly athletic...
