It is lovely when students let us know about some of the amazing and creative things that they like to do in their spare time at home. We were absolutely delighted when Tommy Lang in 4th Class filled us in on the stop-motion animation videos that he like to make at home on his Nintendo 2DS. We were all looking forward to the new Lego movie coming out – now we’re thinking that we don’t need to see it as we have Tommy’s brilliant movie that is just incredible to watch. Well done Tommy, we’re so proud of you. Make sure you have a look and let him know what you think of...

2nd Class record their reading daily. We record ourselves and listen back to see if our reading has improved. We give each other pointers and help each other to improve. We like reading for an audience and practicing speaking loudly, clearly and with a nice tone. We are taking First Steps to good reading. So far this year, we have read four books together. The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me, The Magic Finger, Esio Trot and Care of Henry. We have worked on: 1. Visualising – closing our eyes and seeing the story in our head. 2. Questioning – asking each other questions about the story, podcasting...

Hi this is Johnny, from 5th class. My Write-A-Book project is about a superhero who saves the world’s biggest jewel. I finished my story and I started editing it today. It’s really easy to edit on the laptop because you can right-click to get help with spellings. Mr McAdam, the student teacher, helped me to edit my story. Next I have to do my illustrations and my cover. Here’s a podcast from my class about how they’re all getting on:

The cover of our book 2nd Class have just finished their latest book. It is called ‘Care of Henry’ and it is written by Anne Fine. We really liked it and managed to read it in just two weeks! We made a podcast to tell you all about it. We had great fun and managed to put some opera singing in again! Well done to Kia for stepping up to be our latest presenter! Remember to keep reading, and have fun with books!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr Picture from here. Many people in our world have made real difference to our lives. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is just one of them, and one of the greatest. Today we celebrate Martin Luther King day and stand with people from all over the world who respect great people who stand up for equality and freedom. January is always a bit of an exciting month – people make new goals and resolutions and push themselves to do and be better! You can hear 2nd class talking about their New Year’s Resolutions on their podcast here! In 5th class, we’ve been looking at the top 100 Inspirational Quotes from Forbes. You can read them here. In groups, we read the quotes and picked out our favourite ones, discussing what we think they mean. We made a podcast below of our favourite ones. Well done to Sam for leading the podcast! There are a couple of quotes in our classroom and corridor. Here’s...

Welcome to a brand new year of Wednesday for Parents! It seems fitting to start the year with a post on resolutions – digital resolutions! I found this post over the holidays on ‘10 New Year’s Resolutions for Digital Families‘ on uknowkids.com and they’ve kindly agreed to allow me to share it here. Uknowkids.com has an excellent blog with fantastic resources for parents about safety online. The author of the post, Tim Woda, also has a number of excellent resources on his blog – which you can find here. These resolutions are practical, easy to implement and really...
