Happy Halloween to everybody in St. Peter’s and the viewers from outside our school worldwide. Everybody in Fourth Class has written a scary story for Halloween. Some were as long as 3 pages. After we finished writing them, some of our stories were recorded on Mr. Foley’s iPad. We used an app on the iPad called “Soundcloud”. Some of the pupils who recorded did it in hilarious and scary voices. Mr. Foley recorded some boys while others were working. Of course when everything was going great Mr. Foley deleted the first two stories by accident! Nine boys recorded their stories....

Last Thursday, as part of Maths Week, we took part in a Maths Table Quiz. Paddy and Mr Kinsella, after much deliberation, split 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes into mixed teams of 4 for the quiz in the library. The quiz was provided by Seomra Ranga, always a great source of resources for primary schools. You can check out Seomra Ranga here! Thanks to Ms Byrne, Ms Sugrue, Ms Kane and Mr Staunton for correcting the quiz papers and for keeping the scoreboard up to date. Ms Sexton read out the questions and the jokes. Thanks to Paddy for taking the photos! Well done to Team 14 who were the winners –...

This week for Maths Week, we decided to search for Maths in our environment. We based it on the ‘Have You Got Maths Eyes’ project – you can read more about it here. Most photos were taken outside of school on phones, tablets and cameras, while a few were taken in the yard. Andy even found a picture in the newspaper and cut it out. Take a look at our photos. Can you answer all of the questions? What kind of shape does the roof seem from this angle? What shape would it be if you were looking at it straight on? – Ben

Cross country is a running event that lots of different schools enter. Second class will be able to enter  next year,  but this year, eight people from each class entered it in teams. It was a tough competition for all the runners in Arklow. We had a good day. All the classes were having fun. Andy was the runner of the day. All the classes had class photos taken. We had a good time on the bus. Everyone was singing on the bus. A big thanks to Paddy and everyone who came along, including Ms Sexton and Ms Byrne. Everyone said we were on our best behaviour and we did our school proud.   By...

We have many treasured memories from this school year, and today’s school tour will stand out as one of the best. We went to Fort Lucan in Dublin and we had a fantastic time, with all the students behaving brilliantly. Many thanks to Karen for all of her time spent in planning the tour. Many of the boys are already thinking of their next trip out to Lucan! Here is a short slideshow of images from our day out! If you can’t see it, please click here. Make your own slideshow at Animoto.

Sixth class had a great day out recently on their trip to the Viking Splash Tour in Dublin City Centre. After meeting at the school nice and early, we caught the bus into the city and began an epic game of Eye Spy, which lasted for most of the day. We hoped to visit the National Museum before our transformation into Vikings, but as it was closed, we went to St Stephen’s Green and played a game of football in the sunshine – both students and staff were watching each other carefully, with the student-teacher soccer match in mind!

Here is an update on how our fruit and vegetables are growing in our classroom. We went to Lidl to buy compost and ended up adding to our collection. We bought a coffee plant, a rhubarb plant, a banana plant and a strawberry plant (in case our strawberry plants didn’t arrive in time).
