On Thursday, we dressed up for Halloween! Les, Mr Vance, Mr Foley, Mr Kinsella and Paddy dressed up as the Jamaican bobsled team, while the rest of the staff were Halloween Class Dojo characters!   Lots of our students dressed up and everyone really enjoyed seeing each other’s costumes. A big thanks to the Parents’ Association, who organised a Halloween disco for all of our classes. We had great fun! Look at our beautiful costumes in Junior Infants! Here are some of our costumes in 6th class. 6th class made their costumes as part of their October projects!  

Thanks to Karen for putting together the beautiful autumn and Halloween display in the doorway at the new entrance to the school. Sincere thanks also to Susan and Brooke for making sure we had the best of bales available for the display too! Team Peter’s at its best!  

This week, in 2nd class, we’ve been learning all about Halloween. The main event was on Friday when we all dressed up! Check out our costumes: We had a brilliant day dressing up!   We put a lot of effort into our costumes. Also this week, we learned about Halloween traditions and we used last year’s podcast to learn a rhyme about Halloween safety. Look what Jerry brought in to celebrate Halloween! We had so much fun practising our handwriting using blood quills in Ms. Keating’s class! A blood quill is a dark magical object. It is a type of quill that does not require ink, as it writes with the blood of the person using it. Harry Potter used this in detention in the 5th book: The Order of the Phoenix. This week in Ms. Keating’s class we got the opportunity to practice our handwriting using our own home-made blood quills (a quill and a red pen). It was so exciting writing with red pens. We took our time to make sure we could write as neat as possible, we even had a practice... 

This week, whenever we’ve had a spare 5 minutes, 5th class have been using GoAnimate to create Halloween jokes. Here’s our final instalment of the week. You can find our previous work here and here! Happy Halloween to everybody in St. Peter’s and the viewers from outside our school worldwide. Everybody in Fourth Class has written a scary story for Halloween. Some were as long as 3 pages. After we finished writing them, some of our stories were recorded on Mr. Foley’s iPad. We used an app on the iPad called “Soundcloud”. Some of the pupils who recorded did it in hilarious and scary voices. Mr. Foley recorded some boys while others were working. Of course when everything was going great Mr. Foley deleted the first two stories by accident! Nine boys recorded their stories.... 

Our very spooky Pumpkin jars! 2nd Class are just so excited for Halloween. We have learned songs, rhymes and poems in Irish and English and we made toffee apples and pumpkin jars. We even had some báirín breac to see who would get married first! Later in the week we will play Halloween games from long ago, bake Halloween topper cupcakes, carve pumpkins and make our trick or treat bags. We are using our English, Gaeilge, Art, Music and History lessons all about Halloween this week! The toffee chocolate apples we made, they were yumm   Here are some of our rhymes and poems! When others in our class go to Friday Fit Club we have a Project Club. We do art, crafts, poetry, computers and podcasting in this time. We get better at some of our favourite things. We decided to make a video showing our school Halloween decorations.
