Recently, we celebrated the 100th day of the school year in St. Peter’s and we had lots of events to mark the day! We are all 100 days smarter, but what would we look like if we were 100 YEARS smarter? We used an app to age some of our classes to find out! Click ‘read more’ to see the rest of the photos!

Today was a very important day for St. Peter’s. The Irish Defence Forces delivered the Irish Flag and the 1916 Rising Proclamation to our school. This was to mark the Centennium of the 1916 Rising next year! We learned how to take care of the Irish flag and we also got the opportunity to ask the Defence Force questions about the 1916 Rising. Two children from 6th class did the school very proud today! They stood up on stage and read from the Proclamation and also told a personal story about their connection to the 1916 Rising. As a school, we then came together and sang Amhrán na bhFiann. It...

Last week we had a very interesting visitor in 4th Class. Rob Mortell, a mountain climber came in to talk to us about his trips. He showed us amazing photographs and videos and also brought in his gear for us. Here are a few examples of the items he brought in: Dehydrated food, snow boots and crampons, a down jacket, a helmet, goggles and Buddhist prayer flags. He even brought in his pick axe!                           As a class, we put together some great questions for Rob and we really enjoyed his visit! Check out some of our photos! 🙂 After Rob’s visit we did...

We were all very excited that Lego Club started back this week! This year we are taking part in an international competition called the First Lego League. As part of the competition we will be looking at three different things – A Trash Trek Project, A Robot Game and The First Lego League Core Values. This week we started building our models that will be used for our robot game. We worked in teams to make Models no. 1, 2, 3 and 4 using the instructions on the laptops. Next week we will continue making the rest of the models. We also hope to have our new Lego table made, set up for next week’s...

This month in 4th class, we are learning about weather. In Geography we made our own Anemometers. Did you know an anemometer is used to measure wind speed? Here are a few pictures of our class recording the wind speed. For the next two months, we will be using our anemometers to investigate and record the wind speed everyday. Feel free to check out our record chart in class! 🙂

Hello from 4th Class, As we are all aware, the building for our new extension went underway today 🙂 Due to this, 4th class have decided to take on the role of architects and plan what we could add to our school if we could design the new building. Here are some photographs of us working together in our pairs as we create school blueprints. Make sure to keep an eye out on the 4th Class display boards for the finished designs! 🙂

Earlier today, two buses of 1st to 5th class students set off on the school tour of 2015 in Fort Lucan. Everyone had a fantastic day and we were extremely proud of the behaviour and school spirit of all the students who went along – lots of smiles in the photos below! This Vine sums up how well the day went – sleepy heads on the bus home are a good sign of a great day out! Lots of fun on the trampoline! Red slide or blue? Which did you choose? You can find photos from our school tour 2014 here and from 2013 here!

We in third class were delighted with our production of Aladdin Trouble – A Panto Like No Other! We would like to thank all the parents, family members and all of St. Peter’s for coming to see our show. We worked really hard on our production together with songs, dances, props and costumes and are all VERY proud of ourselves. Here are some snaps from the performance! Bridget, Abbi and Caoilynn (thanks to Abbi’s Mum for the cool costumes)! Our Narrator Kayden – he did a fantastic job!
