Hello bloggers, this is 4th class. It’s coming close to Christmas and we’ve been busy over the past few weeks getting ready. In class we each designed our own Christmas card (Mr. Foley also did one). We started practicing our Class Christmas Play, but sorry we can’t tell you what we’re doing it on, it’s a surprise! We have also been practicing our songs for the School Christmas Play in the library with every class. Before we went up to the library we practiced them in our classroom. The lines for the Christmas Play were given out yesterday for the people who wanted...

This week has been Science Week around the country! In St Peter’s, we’re famous for our involvement in scientific activities and events, and this week was no exception. 4th, 5th and 6th were busy with their projects for the Mini-Scientist, and other classes got stuck in with a variety of enjoyable activities! Here are the headlines for this week: The MakeyMakey board video was a massive success this week – see what all the fuss is about here! 2nd class had a great week for Science Week – read all about it here Well done to Patryk in 6th who collected his prize for his...

Today in 6th class we were working on our Mini-Scientist project. We were planning out our experiments on our report book template. We wrote down what we knew about our projects and did research to find out more information. We created a podcast using Soundcloud and spoke about our project. Ian Lawless interviewed the lot of us. Hello bloggers, we hope you are enjoying the blog. We are doing Science Projects at the moment, and so are Fifth and Sixth Class. For this, we got into groups of three and four. We were given time to decide both our groups and our projects. Mr. Foley was impressed how quickly and quietly we did this. We have five groups in the class. After we were in our groups we were discussing what sort of Science Project we should do. All of us have different kinds of projects. Each group agreed on what we are doing. We have five different experiments, including dinosaurs, spiders, space, birds and the ocean. Over...

On December 3rd, the Intel Mini-Scientist exhibition will take place in the school. 4th, 5th and 6th classes will take part in the exhibition, presenting group projects. One of our Wednesday for Parents posts a couple of weeks ago dealt with choosing a good project for science fairs. This week, we’re going to concentrate on researching your topic. Over the next couple of weeks, we’re going to model how to do a science fair project, using a sample question. If you follow along with the timeline, you should get your project finished in plenty of time! Take, for example, the questions...

One of our most popular events every year is our 6th class project for the Primary Science Fair at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition. We love how much the students learn from it and the confidence they get from demonstrating experiments, explaining the Science and showing off their hard work! This year, we’re taking part in the Intel Mini-Scientist project as a way to involve other classes in the fun of displaying a science project. The exhibition will take place on Tuesday 3rd December at 10am and it promises to be an amazing day. 4th, 5th and 6th will display individual, paired or small...

Over the past two months in the school, all the boys have been working hard to complete the Discover Primary Science and Maths Award. This has involved a huge amount of work from both the pupils and the teachers in each class. We hope you enjoy our upcoming blog posts on the different activities that happened in the school. A big thank you to everyone who participated in it!
