Last Saturday, St. Peter’s had the huge honour of showcasing their technology and ICT use in Dublin Castle at the Excited Digital Learning Conference. We were invited to participate having completed the Digital Schools of Distinction adjudication. It has been an incredible year for St. Peter’s, and we have worked to improve and enhance our use of ICT at every level in the school. This has led to great success at a national level, and we have been successful in the national Eircom Junior Spiders awards, the national Mathletes finals and we have also won a Creative Schools award for use...

In the latest ‘reflection’ post from the Eircom Junior Spiders Awards, we share some of the exciting interviews we gave on the day. We were so lucky to be interviewed by Ireland’s largest independent radio station, Today FM. Juliette from Today FM interviewed Caoilynn, Tommy, James, Oisín and Ms. Brennan. It was an amazing experience, especially considering that tens of thousands of people listen to this station every day! Well done to our brilliant students who did us proud as always. The 2014 Eircom Junior Spiders winners were announced at a ceremony at Google HQ in Dublin today. Hosted by RTÉ’s Aidan Power, the awards recognise and reward primary and post primary students for the innovative ways they use the internet, especially around website development, school blogs and design. At primary level, the Mega Spiders have three categories – Best Project, Best School Blog and Best School Website. There is also a Grand Prix award for the overall winner. Yesterday was an amazing day for our school. After just 13 months of blogging and our website launching just a couple of weeks ago… we have managed to receive not one, but TWO Eircom Junior Spider nominations! You can see the full shortlist here! This is a huge achievement for our school, and something that the boys and girls in St. Peter’s can be very proud of. The nominations will encourage us to keep using ICT and social media to learn from and communicate well with the outside world. As a result of our nominations, we have been invited to the Google European Head Office in Dublin...
