Today in Ms. Keating’s class we made a ‘Get Well Soon’ card for Adam who broke his ankle over the midterm. We can’t wait for Adam to come back to school. It is just not the same without him. We hope you like your card Adam and see you soon. 🙂

Yesterday, we had a very special visitor for Roots of Empathy in 2nd class. Our unit at the moment is called ‘Caring and Preparing for the Baby’ and we were learning all about teething. Ms Whyte brought Baby M in to visit us and we were so excited to see her again! We predicted how many teeth Baby M would have this time and Patrick (who was absent for our predictions) and Lana were correct – she doesn’t have any teeth yet. Check out our predictions. We asked Ms Whyte lots of questions about Baby M (and her twin, Baby R) and Ms Whyte showed us her bag that she brings out...

Today was Pasta Day in St. Peter’s! We were all well fed by Paddy and Mr. Foley, with everyone enjoying a meal together in the hall. In Junior Infants we have some special friends, two of these friends are Cheeky and Charlie. In September Cheeky showed us how to sit on the mat and Charlie showed us how to sit on our chairs. Now that we are doing so well in school, we are able to take Cheeky and Charlie home! Even Mr. Foley wants to take Cheeky and Charlie home! Last week Cian took Cheeky home. Cian told us all about what fun himself and Cheeky had. Liam looks like he can’t wait to take Cheeky home! Cian and Cheeky went to the cinema together and went to see his brother play a football match.

Junior Infants love to play! We learn lots while we play, we practise our language skills and we learn how to interact with each other in a fun way. Cian and Cian love to paint! Every week we learn a new topic during Aistear. We even have some Mums, Dads and Grannies in to help us in the mornings, and we love showing off  everything we have made! Toby loves to paint too! Jake is having lots of fun playing with Norah’s Ark!

Junior Infants would like to say a big thank you to Claire Martin, the mam of T.J. in fourth class, she handmade all these beautiful aprons just for us! Now, when we are playing with the sand and when we are painting, we won’t get messy! A big thank you to Claire  from all of us!

2nd class took their first steps into the world of animation today! As you know, our Creative Schools submission last year was based on stop-motion animation, so we thought it was about time that 2nd class got a taste of one of our favourite creative activities in St Peter’s. Other classes have used Go Animate in the past, and we really enjoyed creating our little video using their latest updates. We chose the background, the length of the scenes, the characters, how the characters acted in each scene and, of course, we recorded the voices! We chose to use part of our ‘comhrá’...

Yesterday, 22 students from 5th and 6th class travelled to the Aviva to watch UCD Waves play in the final of the FAI Women’s Cup. Unfortunately, the result didn’t go our way (we were cheering for UCD Waves) but we had a brilliant day – as you can see in the Animoto and the Storify of all the tweets. Thanks to UCD Waves for our tickets and to Dublin Bus for supplying our transport. Thanks also to Paddy, Ms Flanagan, Mr Kinsella, Ms Kane, Ms Keating, Ms Sexton and Mr Foley for organising the trip and coming along to look after the students – and to Alan for the photo above! For...
