Check out our costumes: We had a brilliant day dressing up!   We put a lot of effort into our costumes. Also this week, we learned about Halloween traditions and we used last year’s podcast to learn a rhyme about Halloween safety. Look what Jerry brought in to celebrate Halloween! We had GREAT fun for Maths Week in 2nd class. On Monday, we used our Maths Eyes to find square corners around the school. You can find our blog post about it here. On Tuesday, we thought about a word problem and drew out the answers in our copies…   For #mathsweek14 2nd class are answering this question. We’re looking for as many combinations as possible! pic.twitter.com/awWp9rgfIg — St. Peter’s Primary (@StPetersBray) October 14, 2014 We then made a poster showing some of the possible combinations to answer the word problem. 2nd class are making a #mathsweek poster to...

As many of you know, last year we were made a Digital School of Distinction. This award was the icing on the cake of a brilliant year of digital learning in our school. Minister Ciaran Cannon met with students from every class and we got a chance to walk him through some of the many things we do that make digital learning a key priority in our school. On Wednesday, we had the great honour of being filmed and interviewed by the Digital Schools organisers (and Microsoft!) about our work in our school. We spoke about our digital learning journey and displayed our work. We can’t wait to see...

Last Friday 6th Class had an amazing day. After a long time working on our Budget project, we presented our project to the Minister of State Simon Harris! Simon is our local TD and we were delighted to welcome him to our school. Before we began our project, we learned all about local and national politics. This took a lot of time! We were really proud of of all we learned. Next, we broke up into groups. We decided that Sadbh should be our Taoiseach and Sam should be our Tánaiste. Then they picked Ministers. Ministers are the people who run different departments. Our Ministers then decided what...

We have lots of exciting plans in 2nd class for Maths week! We decided to kick off Monday of Maths week by looking for square corners in the corridor and in the front yard. Square corners are also known as right angles. Squares and rectangles have four right angles. Check out our Animoto – our Maths Eyes were wide open today!

We had so much fun practising our handwriting using blood quills in Ms. Keating’s class! A blood quill is a dark magical object. It is a type of quill that does not require ink, as it writes with the blood of the person using it. Harry Potter used this in detention in the 5th book: The Order of the Phoenix. This week in Ms. Keating’s class we got the opportunity to practice our handwriting using our own home-made blood quills (a quill and a red pen). It was so exciting writing with red pens. We took our time to make sure we could write as neat as possible, we even had a practice...

6th Class are really enjoying their latest book, ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl. This is our third  podcast and we are delighted with how it came out. Davy and Alan presented and they did a great job! Lots happened in the story since we spoke last, don’t miss this podcast! Warning: It contains major spoilers!
