Last week, 2nd class welcomed Baby M back to the school after the Christmas break and we couldn’t believe how much she has grown. Jerry noticed that she got taller and Leon noticed that she has even more hair. Our theme at the moment is sleep. We’re learning about active sleep, deep sleep, transitions and REM. We were talking about dreams and nightmares. We all shared something with the group. Ms Whyte told us that Baby M sleeps very well. We all got a chance to talk to Baby M and to play with her. Arpit noticed that she was really interested in us and she was looking at us more than...

At the moment, 2nd class are covering Emotions as their theme in Roots of Empathy. We had a visit from Baby M last week and we couldn’t get over how much she has changed in just a few weeks! We made a podcast about her visit and an Animoto of our pictures from her visit. Well done to Anthony who led his first podcast!

Yesterday, we had a very special visitor for Roots of Empathy in 2nd class. Our unit at the moment is called ‘Caring and Preparing for the Baby’ and we were learning all about teething. Ms Whyte brought Baby M in to visit us and we were so excited to see her again! We predicted how many teeth Baby M would have this time and Patrick (who was absent for our predictions) and Lana were correct – she doesn’t have any teeth yet. Check out our predictions. We asked Ms Whyte lots of questions about Baby M (and her twin, Baby R) and Ms Whyte showed us her bag that she brings out...

Baby T was back in today. We’ve been learning all about emotions and sleeping recently. He was so friendly! He is never sad. He is taller and heavier now. He loves to play with the toys and can keep eye contact! Gwen taught us a lot about sleep and how Tristan needs lots of it. We have looked at all of the emotions babies can feel. We feel them too! We are learning a lot from Tristan. See our photos in the video above and don’t miss our lovely Vines from T’s visit below!

We had a lovely time on Wednesday when Baby Tristan came to visit our class for the second time. This visit’s theme for Roots of Empathy was all about Crying. We didn’t learn about Tristan’s crying because he is such a good baby and just never cries. When the baby comes we do special things. 1. We sing our welcome song and a goodbye song 2. We weigh him and measure him 3. We play with the baby and have tummy time with him 4. We ask questions to his Mammy Gwen 5. We always come close to the baby to see if the baby notices us and work on our communication. We love Roots of Empathy....
