  Last Thursday was World Book Day! We all dressed up as our favourite character from a book! Lauren won best costume in Junior Infants! Junior Infants have been doing really well with their sounds, words and reading and we love taking our readers home to read them with our Mums, Dads, Grannies and Grandads. We love books!

It’s no secret that we love Roald Dahl in St Peter’s. Roald Dahl Day was celebrated in great style by 2nd class at the start of the year, we choose a Roald Dahl fairytale for the school play every year and we even have Roald Dahl month every year. This year, Roald Dahl month fell in February and 5th class chose to read Matilda. Our chapter of Matilda every morning has become one of our favourite parts of the day and we’ve only one chapter left. Roald Dahl loves language and word-play and we enjoyed reading his words aloud! Wow! We have great blogging and twitter friends. One of our favourite friends (called Summer Buzz) has flown onto our blog with a message for all of you. Some of the students wanted to share what they are reading with Summer Buzz! Here are the names of the books that some of 2nd Class are reading at home. 1. Dean D is reading a book all about Mojang and the discovery of Minecraft! 2. Dean T is reading Doctor Seuss on the Loose! 3. Codie is reading Five Kids and It! 4. Kayden is reading a non-fiction book about dinosaurs. 5. Casey is reading Pinocchio. 6. Abbi is reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid ‘Dog... 

Book Fair posters are up around the school! We are very excited to announce that we will be holding our annual Scholastic Book Fair in the hall all of next week, 3rd – 7th March. It is always a great event and something to look forward to as we celebrate World Book Day on Thursday March 6th. Ms. Sugrue is looking after the organisation of the Book Fair and has distributed magazines outlining the names of the books that will be available at the Fair.
