Hello everyone!

We hope you are enjoying the first few weeks of school! We have been very busy in Senior Infants and have been working very hard. We are getting used to our new jobs and classroom and have been getting to know our new pupils too. We have already learned about our local area, our family and ourselves and look forward to learning lots about different jobs people in our community do over the next couple of weeks.

We have worked really well together during morning activities and started our Aistear programme. During Aistear we will learn about lots of different and interesting themes and will have the chance to play together in lots of different areas including role play, language play and physical play stations. Team work and co – operation is really important when we play together. Check out some of our photos to see how well we are playing!

We have also been lucky enough to start GAA with Tommy and it’s so much fun! We’re learning lots of new skills and games.

Warm up time!

To make sure that we all know where everything in the school is we went on a quick walkabout last week. We visited the hall, the yards and the office. When we got back to our own classroom we decided to make our own maps of the school just to be sure we remembered all the different parts!

Map making! We know our school really well now.

Check out our map of Bray. The boys and girls worked together to re – create the main street. It really brightens up our room!

We also looked at some old photos of Bray and compared what is different in the town today and what has stayed the same. It was really interesting to see what the town used to look like!

Bray

Bray then and now!

Two of our favourite books so far this year have been the ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ by Julia Donaldson and ‘Elmer’ by David McKee. We also listened to ‘The Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister and created some really cool fish of our own. We’re looking forward to reading lots more books this year!

That’s all from us for now but we’ll be sure to keep you updated with lots more news soon! From Senior Infants 🙂

how exciting senior infants class is! I love the map of your school .. you will have to make a new map when the new building is finished and display them beside each other so everyone will see the difference .. well done!
