Welcome to our second edition of the St Peter’s Post!

As always, this post is a handy place to catch up on any news from the week that you may have missed during the week!

This main headlines from this week were:

  • This week was Maths Week 2013 and there were a number of events taking place, including a table quiz on Thursday. The quiz was thanks to Seomra Ranga and went down a storm! Congratulations to Team 14 –  John from 3rd, Alan from 4th, LukeMc from 5th and Eduard from 6th – who came top of the leaderboard. Blog post to follow on Monday, when the team members are presented with their prizes!
  • This week saw the first cross-country event of the year in Arklow – well done to all who took part! You can read all about it here. Also, congratulations to the boys from 5th class for putting together such a great write-up of the day.
  • 2nd class became Seatbelt Sheriffs this week. What does that mean? Check it out here !
  • We marked Space Week with a special podcast of a poem to help remember planet names.
  • In other Maths Week activities, 5th class took part in the Maths Eyes project. Keep an eye out for the blog post on Monday showing off all our great photos from the week and for an explanation about what it all means!
  • Student Council continue to do a great job. You can listen to their podcast here. Thanks for designing the signs to promote Halloween safety that are up around the school!
  • This week saw HUGE excitement as we got our first MakeyMakey board. What’s a MakeyMakey board? Prepare to be impressed here. Once you’ve picked your jaw off the floor, check out what our students created here!
  • Our Parents’ Council thanked everyone for the help at the Open Day here. Our leaflet telling people about our school can be found here
  • Speaking of parents! Our ‘Wednesdays for Parents’ post this week was based around choosing a science fair project. This is particularly useful as 4th, 5th and 6th classes will take part in the Intel Mini-Scientist exhibition on December 3rd. Read all about it here!
  • The 2nd class project club created an amazing Animoto showing off the Halloween decorations in the school. Watch it here! They also made great Halloween lanterns, you can see them here!

 

In other news:

  • This video Ms Brennan posted is definitely worth a look – it has the 5th class seal of approval,  as Oisín, Johnny and Andy were all impressed!
  • Congratulations to Chris from 3rd on becoming a big brother again!
  • 2nd class continue to go from strength to strength with Food Dudes. Their healthy eating is starting to influence everyone, especially the staffroom!
  • Best of luck to Bray Emmets, who take on Glenealy in the Senior Hurling Final!
  • Well done Codie for winning Man of the Match this week for his team, Wolfe Tone!
  • Ian from 6th did another great job tweeting from the Student Council – a career in Marketing awaits!
  • After-school clubs continue to go very well – Scratch club was a big hit with 2nd and 3rd this week.
  • 4th class continued their great run of attendance this week. Also, in 4th class, we welcomed Mr Staunton, who filled in for Mr Foley this week. Thanks for visiting us!
  • Well done 6th class, who have been extremely helpful around the school lately. We always appreciate how much they look out for our younger classes.
  • Thanks to the Sports Promotion Unit, who have been in helping out with after-school clubs and Friday Fit Club. Conor and Ruth are always welcome visitors around St Peter’s.
  • Catch-up MMR vaccinations took place this week on Friday. Thanks a million to Karen, who worked so hard to make sure that the day ran so smoothly!
