Yesterday saw the annual Wicklow Sports Day organised by Cumann na mBunscoil in Charlesland, Greystones. Twenty-one students from St Peter’s represented their school in a variety of events, from sprints to field events, such as the ball throw and the long jump. The sun shone all day and the boys found shade at one stage of the afternoon under our gigantic school banner!

The boys all performed really well on the day and were great representatives of the school in their behaviour and their sportsmanship. Adam from 6th won first place in the ball throw with a fantastic third attempt, catching the attention of parents and teachers from other schools around us too! Adam is a talented baseball player – definitely one to watch for the future. Archie from 5th class took a silver medal in the long jump for the under 12’s. We were worried for a while that he’d land in the carpark! Oisín from 4th class won a bronze medal in the 80m sprint in a really exciting and closely fought final. Well done also to Ava and Robyn from St Philomena’s, who also won medals on the day!

Thanks to Paddy for setting up the qualifying heats in the school and for organising everything on the day itself!

The banner would be better if it was a bit bigger 🙂
