I have been working with Mr. Kinsella to make a stop motion animation. First we planned our story and then we wrote it. After I corrected and edited it we made a list of everything we needed to make it. Filming started last week and we hope to have it finished before Easter and up on the blog. In the meantime I hope you enjoy the trailer! By Jordan Farrell IMG 0159[1] from St Peter's, Bray on Vimeo.

We’ve always enjoyed taking part in Engineer’s Week activities – back in 2005, we were the Senior Engineering Class of Ireland and the trophy was one of the coolest we’ve ever seen! This year, we really enjoyed Engineer’s Week. You can see an overview of all of our activities here. We were so excited to get an email from the STEPS co-ordinator, Sylvia Leatham, to tell us that we had won a prize for our efforts! Here’s the press release from STEPS. Sylvia had very kind comments about our work: Your blog gave us a great sense of what you did – it looks...

One year ago, today, St Peter’s published its first blog post. This is our 289th post in that year and as we announced yesterday, Aaron Gray posted our 1000th comment this week. With this in mind, we postponed this week’s ‘Wednesday for Parents’ to coincide with the birthday, so that we could focus on a very special topic – the blog. So, why do we blog? And why do we believe it’s worth it? We asked the people who know best, our students! I like blogging because it’s really fun and you can see what’s going on in the school – Johnny I like when...

Discover Primary Science 2nd Class Lesson Brief Summary of our STEM Experiment: Stimulus/Rationale: Recently, 2nd class wanted to investigate different methods of transport for Santa Claus. This was stimulated by a question I posed to the class, ‘If the reindeer went on strike on Christmas Eve how would Santa Claus travel to deliver presents to all the boys and girls?’ We brainstormed some alternatives coming up with rockets, flying cars, jet-pack’s, wings etc. however a quick and feasible alternative we agreed would be a parachute. Task: Design and build a parachute for...

Second class has been exploring lots of different materials and their properties over the last while. As a part of this we have been looking at lots of different questions about what different materials are like. The other week, we watched an amazing video of Felix Baumgartner as he jumped from a helium balloon in the stratosphere. You can see the video here http://www.redbullstratos.com/gallery/?mediaId=media1902415096001 Ms. Fry showed us a picture that Felix Baumgartner had drawn as a little boy of himself jumping with a parachute and it really got us thinking! We started wondering about what...
