As you all know, Tommy Lang in 4th Class is a stop-motion video making wizard! We are so proud of the work he does. You can see an example of his other work on this blogpost! Today we’re sharing Tommy’s recent video.  It is all about the work that takes places in an airport! It is truly amazing. He uses voice and audio clips from the internet and his bedsheets act as clouds. It is just so clever. You must see it here. Well done Tommy! Our favourite part is where the door closes and where the tea and coffee is being served! lego from St Peter’s, Bray on Vimeo.

Last week, Culture Night took place across the country. We already posted about our fantastic contribution to the Signal OutDoors project – worth checking out here if you haven’t already! The Mermaid ran a number of events on the night, including children’s animation workshops. We in St Peter’s booked two places for our students to take part in the stop-motion animation workshop. Leon from 5th and Eduard from 6th took part and had a fantastic time. Both students are looking forward to teaching their classes how to use stop-motion animation. Maybe Film Club will be in the...

2nd class took their first steps into the world of animation today! As you know, our Creative Schools submission last year was based on stop-motion animation, so we thought it was about time that 2nd class got a taste of one of our favourite creative activities in St Peter’s. Other classes have used Go Animate in the past, and we really enjoyed creating our little video using their latest updates. We chose the background, the length of the scenes, the characters, how the characters acted in each scene and, of course, we recorded the voices! We chose to use part of our ‘comhrá’...

Last week we had the great honour of welcoming the Minister of State in Department of Education to St. Peter’s. We had already met Minister Ciaran Cannon at the Excited Digital Learning Conference in Dublin Castle, and this meeting in our school was to celebrate the fact that we have been granted ‘Digital School of Distinction’ status! Showing off our awards and work from this school year! This award was the icing on the cake of a brilliant year of digital learning in our school. Minister Cannon met with students from every class and we got a chance to walk him through some of...

Ms. Byrne and third class had the most exciting start to their week this morning! A big package was delivered to the school addressed to ‘The Children in Ms. Byrne’s Third Class’. After much guessing and anticipation about what might be in the package, the boys ripped opened the box. They found the most generous, kind and thoughtful letter inside explaining what they had received. And if you know third class, you could probably guess at what the best possible thing in the world would be for them to receive… YES you’ve guessed it – LEGO!!! The package had been sent by none other than...

St. Peter’s have done it again! We have been successful in achieving the Creative Schools Award for 2014. We’re sure you have noticed all of the great work the children have been doing with Stop Motion Animation over the past year, and you weren’t alone! The Association for Creativity and Arts in Education who organise the Creative Schools Award think we are super too! On Monday, Ms. Byrne and Ms. Flanagan took four of the boys to Temple Bar’s Arc Cultural Centre to represent the school in receiving our award. Patryk, Dylan, Jordan and Szymon were treated to a fun filled day in Dublin....

It’s been a very exciting week in St Peter’s and we’re sure that everyone by now has heard that good things come in twos! On Tuesday, we were over the moon to be awarded two awards in the Eircom Junior Spiders… and then on Thursday, we were over the moon to hear of two new arrivals to the St Peter’s family. Welcome to our weekly online newsletter – the St Peter’s Post! We’d a really exciting week with the arrival of Scientific Sue. We were delighted to welcome five local schools to see Sue in action and they were all really impressed by Sue and by our beautiful school! It was lovely to be able to share our prize with them and we’re very grateful to Engineers Ireland for organising it. Here are the week’s headlines: You can read all about Scientific Sue’s visit here! We’re now on our Easter holidays – 3rd class had great fun yesterday at their Easter...
